Deadly gym shooting critically wounded Katie Taylor’s father and another man along with killing a man, at a boxing club.

Peter Taylor, the father of Katie Taylor, who is an Olympic boxer champion and former footballer has been seriously injured in a shooting that took place in the County Wicklow at Bray boxing club. Two men including Mr. Taylor were hurt in the shooting, while a man aging 30 years old has been killed during the incident.

It was 6.55 am, Tuesday, the time at when the shooting happened, while a fitness session of nearly 20 people was about to start at gym of the club. During the session, a holding probably a handgun entered in, who reportedly wore a helmet, balaclava and a high visibility yellow jacket. The gunman walked and started firing at the people.

After the incident, the injured people including Mr. Taylor and another man with age of 57 and 35 respectively were immediately moved to hospital. Since, injuries of the people are not supposed to be life threatening.

Pat Ward, Garda Superintendent said in a statement that, “We don’t know if it was indiscriminate or what the motive was, that’s something we are trying to determine at the minute, and we just can’t exactly say or confirm what the motive was.”

Ward added, “It was a normal session on a normal day and it was being undertaken by people who normally undertake that session in the early hours of the morning. This came totally out of the blue – it was a normal day for all of those people in the gym.”
